#144 I Let Her Go...

The car doors opened

hands slipped from hands

and she left for the final time..

I turned the headlights off

and sagged on the driver's seat

with a dismal awe

head almost hitting the steering wheel..

Eyes were glued on the dark road ahead

as the heart was crying

and a million thoughts playing chess

inside this emotional skull..

It felt like loosing everything

I ever had

as if something is slipping away

never to return..

Yet with a hope to see her

I stayed on with the ignition off

not wanting to leave

legs refusing to walk..

And suddenly the phone rang

with the same but unusual tone

my heart started beating faster

It was her, as I glanced on..

As if I could have asked for anything

no waiting time, no bids

and even the most impossible would come to me

just like she did..

We saw, cried and hugged

yet the words got stuck

I couldn't say anything

and let her go again for the final time

never to return...
